Our Achievements

1. Establishment of a Gender Reference Group to advise and inform preparations for the Seventh Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers Meeting (7WAMM) in 2004; and the process for deciding the content for the Commonwealth Gender Plan of Action for Gender Equality 2005 - 2015. The Gender Reference Group has been reconstituted to monitor the implementation of the Plan.

2. Mobilization of women’s CSOs to lobby policymakers in the Commonwealth through the Commonwealth Women’s Affairs Ministers meetings, which are convened every three years and the meeting of Senior Officials from National Women’s Machineries of the Commonwealth. 3. Networking across the regions (Africa, Asia, Caribbean, Pacific and developed countries); and exchange of information and expertise.

4. Sensitization of women leaders in Uganda about the role of the Commonwealth Women’s Network (5th October 2006) and the upcoming 8WAMM.

5. Workshop at the World Social Forum 2007, Nairobi focusing on the theme, “Can the New Aid Architecture Transform Commonwealth Societies? - Implications for Gender Equality Work.” Held on 23rd January 2007.
